Dr. Douglas Wheeler, ThD, PhD — Co-President

Academic Excellence and Spiritual Depth
Dr. Douglas Wheeler brings more than four decades of experience as an educator, pastor, and pioneering scholar in Messianic Jewish theological education. Holding a PhD in Church Administration from the California Graduate School of Theology (Summa Cum Laude) and a ThD in Biblical Studies from Florida Theological Seminary, he embodies the balance of rigorous scholarship and applied ministry.
He studied under John Maxwell and completed his PhD under Dr. Butrus Abd-al-Malik, a Princeton scholar fluent in eight languages who contributed to the Dead Sea Scrolls Project. Dr. Wheeler also holds a master’s in Church Administration (CGST), a bachelor’s from Texas Tech University, and is a graduate of Trinity Bible Institute. In 2009, he was inducted into the Oxford Society of Scholars for lifelong contributions to theological education.
Leadership and Legacy
Formerly President of Kidron Christian College, Dr. Wheeler began there in 1998 as academic dean and professor of Hebrew. Since 1988, he has planted or pastored six congregations, each emphasizing biblical literacy, discipleship, and spiritual growth. As founder of Mended Wings Ministries and senior pastor of The House of Study Congregation, he continues to mentor leaders who merge scholarship with lived faith.
His writings and teaching reflect a singular goal: to help students encounter God personally while mastering the Scriptures in their original languages and cultural context. Together with his wife, Joyce, he has served the Body of Messiah for over 50 years with faithfulness, joy, and shared vision.
